The easiest way for Katie Took to get the elderly Ruth out of her house, is to convince Rick to marry the old woman. When Ruth says no, Katie asks why. Ruth refuses to marry as long as the accusation she killed her husband ten years before still hangs over her head. With the lazy summer turning into fall and work on her old house slowing down, Katie starts asking questions. She ends up at an abandoned house donated to the church. There she finds a steamer trunk filled with clues in the basement.
